Austin, Texas — St. David’s Medical Center announced today that it has been recognized among Newsweek’s list of World’s Best Hospitals for 2026. This is the seventh year the hospital has received this recognition. The ranking highlights leading hospitals across 32 countries.

“This recognition reflects the extraordinary expertise, compassion and clinical excellence our physicians, nurses and care teams bring to delivering world-class care every day,” Todd Steward, chief executive officer of St. David’s Medical Center, said. “When individuals and families are facing some of the most important healthcare decisions of their lives, they deserve complete confidence in the hospital they choose. We are honored to earn that trust and remain committed to serving the Central Texas community and beyond at the highest level.”

Newsweek partnered with statistics portal and industry ranking provider Statista to award the best hospitals. More than 2,400 hospitals were ranked this year, with the top 250 making the list of World’s Best Hospitals 2026.

Hospitals were ranked after receiving a final score comprised of data from the following four sources:

  • Hospital quality metrics, including data on quality of care for treatments
  • Patient-report outcome measures
  • Results from patient surveys, including patient satisfaction
  • Recommendations from thousands of medical experts, including an online survey

St. David’s Medical Center offers a comprehensive range of services designed to meet the diverse healthcare needs of patients at every stage of life. From advanced women’s services and maternal-fetal medicine to the region’s largest Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, comprehensive stroke care and a 24-hour emergency department, the hospital provides highly specialized care across multiple disciplines. The hospital also has designations for complex spine, total joint, surgical oncology, bariatric and general surgery, and it is home to the nationally recognized Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute.
