Kyle Landry

Chief Executive Officer

St. David’s Georgetown Hospital

Kyle Landry was named chief executive officer of St. David’s Georgetown Hospital, one of the eight member hospitals of St. David’s HealthCare, in April 2023.

Since 2015, Landry has served in various leadership positions within St. David’s HealthCare, most recently serving as chief operating officer at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center. In this role, Landry oversaw the hospital’s Level II Trauma Center and emergency department. He also helped launch the hospital’s breast cancer, robotic bronchoscopy, structural heart and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) programs, as well as expanded surgical services.

Prior to his time at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center, Landry served as vice president of operations at St. David’s Medical Center, where he successfully led multiple service lines, grew the comprehensive stroke center (the highest level of certification for stroke care) and neuroscience program, and served as the facility’s chief staffing officer. He started his career with St. David’s HealthCare as an executive resident, completing rotations with the healthcare system’s hospital executive teams.

Landry received a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Michigan and earned his master’s degree in health care administration from Trinity University in San Antonio.

Eva Slavcheva MD

Chief Medical Officer

St. David’s Georgetown Hospital

Eva Slavcheva, M.D., was named chief medical officer of St. David’s Georgetown Hospital in April 2023.

Dr. Slavcheva has provided care within the St. David’s HealthCare system for more than 10 years, most recently serving as the chair of St. David’s Georgetown Hospital’s Department of Medicine and the director of utilization review. As the chief medical officer of St. David’s Georgetown Hospital, Dr. Slavcheva serves as the senior liaison between hospital management and physicians on the medical staff.

Prior to her work at St. David’s Georgetown Hospital, Dr. Slavcheva served in a number of roles within various healthcare organizations, including Baylor Scott & White in Marble Falls and Temple. She also treated patients as an internist and hospitalist at Austin Diagnostic Clinic and Hospital Internists of Austin. Prior to moving to Central Texas in 2006, Dr. Slavcheva served as an internist and pediatrician in Alabama.

Dr. Slavcheva holds a doctor of medicine from the Medical University of Sofia in Bulgaria. She completed her residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University in New York and began her career as a research associate at Mt. Sinai Hospital.

Jonelle Thomas

Chief Nursing Officer

St. David’s Georgetown Hospital

Jonelle Thomas was named chief nursing officer of St. David’s Georgetown Hospital in August 2023.

Previously, Thomas served as assistant chief nursing officer at The Medical Center of Aurora, a 467-bed Level II Trauma Center in Aurora, Colorado. In this role, she oversaw the emergency department and served as the executive sponsor of the Patient Care Technician Council and Nursing Cabinet Council.

Prior to this, Thomas was the assistant chief nursing officer at Sky Ridge Medical Center—a 284-bed Level II Trauma Center in Lone Tree, Colorado—where she designed and implemented a Specialty Training Apprenticeship for Registered Nurses and a nurse advisory group to support new nursing graduates. Before serving as assistant chief nursing officer, Thomas was director of medical telemetry at Sky Ridge Medical Center. She also served as an assistant nurse manager for the intermediate care unit at Rose Medical Center in Denver and as a nursing supervisor and nursing services manager at Rocky Mountain Cancer Center in Denver.

Thomas earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Valerie Newman

Chief Operating Officer

St. David's Georgetown Hospital

Valerie Newman was named chief operating officer of St. David's Georgetown Hospital in September 2024.

Newman previously served as vice president of operations at Medical City Weatherford since 2020. In that role, she oversaw ancillary and support services, including surgical services, respiratory therapy, diagnostic imaging, mammography, lab, therapy, food and nutrition, environmental, plant operations, emergency preparedness and security. She also launched a robotic surgery program, led the elevation of the facility's trauma program from level 4 to level 3 accreditation, and was actively involved in recruiting and onboarding new providers.

Prior to her role as vice president of operations at Medical City Weatherford, Newman was an administrative resident at HCA Florida Osceola in Kissimmee, and she also served as a senior administrative consultant for UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville.

Newman earned her bachelor's degree in healthcare administration from the University of Central Florida in Orlando and a master's degree in healthcare administration from the University of Florida in Gainesville. She is also a graduate of HCA Healthcare's Executive Development Program.
