Criteria for Volunteering
- Adult Volunteers (18+) - Applications for adults are accepted year-round. Volunteers are asked to commit to a weekly schedule of 3-4 hours per week. Begin the journey of volunteering by completing the online application.
- College Volunteers (18+) - This program is designed for students interested in healthcare careers. We offer multi-department choices to explore healthcare fields. We accept summer college applications Feb. 1 until March 31. Please complete the online application to begin the volunteer journey.
- High School Volunteers* (15+) - We invite students to apply for our enriching Summer Volunteer Program, running from June 15 to August 1, 2025. A limited number of students are also accepted throughout the year, particularly those in homeschool, hybrid learning, or other unique educational circumstances, depending on departmental needs. Volunteers are asked to commit to a weekly schedule of 3-4 hours per week, for up to 8 weeks. Volunteers must be able to work independently following successful training.
Applications for the summer session will be accepted until 11:00 PM on May 31, 2025.
After submitting the online application, an email will be sent to you within 24–48 hours requesting the following next steps:
- Participate in the interview process (in-person) with the Auxiliary Board Committee (adults)
- High School students will be interviewed by the St. David's Georgetown Hospital's Student Volunteer Committee (in person or virtual)
- Consent to a criminal background check – (processing begins after the Auxiliary Board Committee and/or Student Volunteer Committee’s approval of your interview)
- Complete a drug screening (must be conducted at SDGH or Occupational Health Services in Austin, TX with a completed authorization form from the Volunteer Department)
- Provide documentation of required immunizations (including Flu shot, Tdap within the last 10 years, Tuberculosis (TB), MMR (2 doses - Measles, Mumps, Rubella), VAR (2 doses - Varicella/Chicken Pox or history of this disease)

- 5:00pm–8:00pm
Volunteer hours may include evenings and weekends, depending on assigned duties.
