Russell joined St. David’s HealthCare as the associate chief nursing officer at St. David’s Medical Center in 2013. She went on to serve as the interim chief nursing officer before transitioning to the role of chief nursing officer at Heart Hospital of Austin.

“During her tenure at Heart Hospital of Austin, Amy was instrumental in elevating patient experience scores to the top 3% nationwide and increasing employee engagement,” Becky Barnes, interim chief executive officer of St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, said. “We are excited for her to join the leadership team at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center and look forward to the many contributions she will bring.”

A few years later, she relocated to Largo, Florida, assuming the position of chief nursing officer at HCA Florida Largo and Largo West Hospitals. There, she oversaw 455 hospital beds and launched the hospital’s cardiac transplant and ECMO programs.

Russell earned her master’s degree in nursing and healthcare administration from Walden University in Minneapolis, as well as a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Illinois in Chicago. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
