Round Rock, Texas — St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center has named Mihaela Bujoi, M.D., M.B.A., as its new chief medical officer. Dr. Bujoi, who previously served as assistant chief medical officer at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, assumed her new role on March 16, succeeding Michael Craun, M.D., who will retire in April.

“Dr. Bujoi brings with her a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to clinical excellence,” JW Newman, chief executive officer of St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, said. “I am confident Dr. Bujoi will contribute significantly to the advancement of exceptional patient care and clinical innovation at St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center.”

During her time at Methodist Hospital, a 1,100-bed facility serving South Texas, Dr. Bujoi played a key role in enhancing a broad spectrum of services, including complex cardiac and pulmonary services, ECMO, oncology, and stem cell transplantation for adult and pediatric patients. She also established a governance structure for critical care service lines to improve quality and efficiency, streamlined patient throughput processes, and enhanced physician engagement.

Before joining Methodist Hospital, Dr. Bujoi spent six years with Presbyterian Health System in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she held several medical director roles, including clinical transformation, cardiology and quality for the cardiovascular service line. She also served as president of the New Mexico Medical Society from 2022 to 2023.

Dr. Bujoi earned her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” in Bucharest, Romania, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
